Small Grants for Research in CBCRM
The small grants for research under the CBCRM Research and Learning Fund encourage interaction among communities, institutions, ideas and methods in CBCRM. The grants are directed at expanding and innovating on current lessons and practices in CBCRM and sustainable livelihoods (SL). These grants also seek to highlight current work, challenges, and cutting edge issues in undertaking CBCRM and SL activities.
Important announcement: The Learning and Research Network (LeaRN) project has ended last May 2006. The network's identified country focal points are still in the process of finalizing the proposal for the envisioned next phase of LeaRN. Meanwhile, we would like to inform the public that we have already given out the fourth and final batch of research grants under LeaRN's Small Grants for Research in CBCRM. Please wait for further announcements on this site regarding the resumption of the small grants program. Thank you.
Who can apply?
Any individual or group doing a field project or policy-related work on CBCRM and SL in Cambodia, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Sri Lanka and other Asian countries is eligible for the grant. The Learning and Research Network (LeaRN), which manages the program and approves applications, also pre-selects grantees from time to time in consonance with its research and learning agenda. For more information, email admin@cbcrmlearning.org
Guidelines
The small grants are meant for community-based or policy research and initiatives designed with the use of participatory tools, bringing researchers and research users in mutual cooperation. The main approach of the program is to support partnerships proposed by individuals or institutions in the Asian region. However, this does not exclude South-North partnerships involved in a collaborative scheme in Asia. more on guidelines ...
How to apply
A two-page concept proposal with an information sheet of the applicant should be submitted first to the CBCRM Resource Center, addressed to the Center Coordinator. Electronic submissions are acceptable. The Coordinating Committee of LeaRN deliberates on all proposal submissions and replies to all applications. If the concept proposal is accepted, LeaRN will require submission of a complete proposal. In approving the complete proposal, the Coordinating Committee may consult LeaRN's Advisory Committee or any individual or institution as deemed necessary. The Coordinating Committee, however, makes the final approval on the complete proposal. see outlines for concept proposal and information sheet
Grant recipients
The first batch of grantees were announced in August 2002 and included six (6) projects, five (5) from the Philippines and one (1) from Vietnam. A second batch, originally consisting of five (5) projects, were approved in the latter half of 2003. For the third round of research grants, LeaRN approved two (2) preselected research projects and provided technical support by facilitating project links with identified CBCRM Fellows who acted as research advisers. more on the grantees
