About Fishermen, Fisherwomen, Oceans and Tides: A Gender Perspective in Marine-Coastal Zones

by Lorena Aguilar y Itza Castañeda, World Conservation Union 2001, 273 pp.

This module represents a conceptual and methodological proposal that provides tools and recommendations aimed at tackling the linkage between gender and development initiatives. The manual is designed to accompany a facilitating team or group during cycles of projects implemented in marine-coastal zones. Consideration has been given to the different ecological, social, economic, cultural and political realities prevailing in marine-coastal zones, particularly those of the Mesoamerican region. The manual consists of seven (7) chapters, including an introductory chapter, that are interrelated, but independent from each other. This makes it possible to use them at different moments during a project's cycle. Downloadable in English and Spanish on the IUCN's gender and environment website (www.genderandenvironment.org). read full text...
